Coverage for At Home, Over-The-Counter Home COVID-19 Test

We are aware of the policy announced by the White House requiring insurance companies and group health plans to cover the cost of at-home COVID-19 tests effective January 15, 2022. Reimbursement claim forms for CHRISTUS Health Plan and USFHP members, have been added below.

While there continues to be a retail testing kit shortage nationwide, we are working with our pharmacy partner to get more tests and to make them available as soon as possible. We will continue to post the latest updates here, so please check back regularly.

Additional Testing Resources:

The U.S. government is offering FREE at-home test kits via the postal service to every home in the U.S. Visit covidtests.gov to order today. Orders usually ship within 7-12 days.

You can also schedule in-person testing at many of our in-network primary care, urgent care and emergency care facilities. Bear in mind that high demand for testing may also result in long wait times at all of these testing facilities for both PCR and rapid antigen testing. Also note, emergency care facilities should be limited to those that need immediate care only.

If you have already purchased a FDA-approved COVID-19 rapid antigen test on or after January 15, 2022, please submit a claim to be reimbursed for tests by clicking the links below:

TRICARE covers the cost of at-home test kits that are FDA approved and ordered by a TRICARE authorized provider for a medically necessary purpose, such as exhibition of symptoms.  The Defense Heath Agency is reviewing the latest guidance on at-home testing kits in order to identify whether any changes to the current policy are warranted.

As a reminder, the DHA reminds all beneficiaries to follow currently approved TRICARE requirements for COVID-19 testing. Those guidelines can be reviewed on TRICARE’s web site at:
